Be careful when renting a hotel room

We often book a hotel or small establishment with the sole intention of getting a good night's sleep. However, behind the pretty decor, certain details can betray a place that's far less welcoming than it seems. What if your room isn't as safe or clean as it looks? Three specific clues should immediately raise a red flag...

Suspicious mirrors: a detail that should never be overlooked

Imagine getting ready, makeup on or pajamas on, unaware that a mirror could be hiding more than just a reflection.  One-way mirrors  exist and allow you to see through the glass, to the other side.  It's rare , certainly, but enough to warrant a minimum of vigilance.

The one-touch test
Place your finger against the mirror.

If there's a small gap between your finger and its reflection, it's fine; it's a regular mirror.
If your finger is directly touching its reflection, be careful: it could be a one-way mirror.

A simple reflex that only takes two seconds… and can save you  a lot of trouble .

Hidden cameras: how to check your peace of mind

Your bedroom should be your private bubble, a space where you can finally unwind after a long day. But some small devices, installed without your knowledge, can compromise this privacy.  Rest assured , there are simple ways to check.

Two easy tips to test with your smartphone  :

· Turn off the lights, close the curtains, and film the room with your phone's camera.
